Halfway House BP’s pilot 5km fun walk attracts over 150 Midrand residents
Many participants embraced the chance to engage in healthy activity while spreading the vital message of cancer awareness within the community.
The annual 5km fun walk hosted by Halfway House BP on November 30 to raise cancer awareness was a remarkable success in its inaugural year.

About 150 enthusiastic community members participated, walking through the lively streets of Midrand. The walk started at the petrol station and followed a scenic route along Janadel, First and Van Heerden roads, Le Roux Drive and Smuts Drive, and concluded at the petrol station.
Participants enjoyed the beautiful route, sharing smiles and laughter while promoting the importance of staying active as the festive season approached.

More than 20 local vendors showcased their products at stalls set up at the petrol station, creating a vibrant marketplace atmosphere. DJ Renzo provided lively music, adding to the celebratory spirit of the event.
Juanita van der Hoven, the petrol station manager, said, “This was a very successful event and we hope next year’s will be even larger and more impactful. We walked for cancer awareness not only to spread the message but also to show our support for our valued customers. We are committed to making this an annual event and aim to grow it each year.”
She concluded they would host a mini market every last weekend of the month.
