Versatile Total Football Excellence (TFE) midfielder-come-striker Sibusiso Jr Gcabashe believes his strong leadership skills have paid off.
Currently TFE captain, after being scouted from Northrounds Football Club (NFC), and Player of the Season in the Midrand Local Football Association (MLFA), Gcabashe (19), from Halfway House, says, as a captain and a leader, helping his teammates is crucial for them to grow. “My style of play is based on speed, strength, and skill. I can either play as left wing, right wing, or even a striker.

“I was motivated by Neymar [da Silva Santos Júnior], his ability to play carefree, play his style of football, and enjoy football is something I admire.”
Gcabashe said his dream is to play for one of the big teams in South African football, possibly Bafana Bafana.
The Grade 11 learner from Teneo Online School, said academically, he hopes to be an analyst. “I would love to be a professional footballer player, but my back plan would be a sports analyst.”

After guiding TFE to the SAFA Johannesburg Regional League, Gcabashe says his goal there is to continue where he left off in the MLFA league. “I would like to continue to score goals, lead my team, and showcase my talent. I knew my hard work was eventually going to pay off, based on how I approached my games. It was my goal, since the preseason, and I continue to push myself. The player of the Season award is a testimony of my work.”
