Sector 3 Crime Forum chairperson wary of false number plates on suspects’ cars
Dinesh Sookdeo says cars fitted with false number plates are not easy to trace.
Sector 3 Crime Forum chairperson Dinesh Sookdeo said they are not only concerned about attempted kidnappings and muggings at petrol garages but also about false number plates fitted on the suspects’ cars.

This comes after a video of an alleged attempted hijacking at a filling station on Lever Road in Noordwyk did the rounds.
“We find that in many instances, the number plates on the vehicles used are false and difficult to identify. However, these vehicles do get marked for being on the lookout. More importantly, while I do not place blame on any victim, the call from the CPF has been about vigilance around electronic devices in public,” said Sookdeo.

He said especially on Lever, 14th, and Cobourgh roads.
Sookdeo urged residents to put electronics (phones, pods, smart watches, etc) as far as possible out of sight to avoid becoming a victim.
“As previously indicated, these muggings are planned, but victims are random or easily targeted.”
