Vorna Valley kidnapping victim rescued after 48 hours

The Midrand Sector 2 Crime Forum praised the swift response, saying it sends a strong message against kidnapping syndicates.

A President Park man, Maqsood Ali Rana Rajpoot, was kidnapped from Vorna Valley on September 30. This happened around 20:20 while driving along the suburb in his Toyota Corolla.

48 hours later, Rajpoot was rescued in Benoni, in the East Rand, all thanks to the authorities’ swift response in an intelligence-driven operation.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said that one suspect was arrested, on October 3 in Benoni, Ekurhuleni, following an intensive investigation. “The suspect was charged with kidnapping, and appeared before the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on October 6. The case was postponed to October 13. The search for more suspects is underway.”
