Suspect arrested for vehicle theft in Midrand

Upon further investigation by the police, it was discovered that the same suspect had been arrested on a number of occasions in relation to vehicle crime-related cases.

A 40-year-old suspect has been arrested for motor vehicle theft in Midrand and is expected to appear at Alexandra Magistrate’s Court.

According to Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale, on April 24, Hawks cash-in-transit team, Toms, Gauteng police highway patrol, Tracker Connect, Badboys Security, GTP Saturation unit, and Insurance Crime Bureau worked tirelessly to arrest the suspect.

Mogale said the police received information about a suspect who was allegedly in possession of a motor vehicle that has been sought by the police.

“A Jeep SUV was found affixed with false registration plates and a fake license plate,” said Mogale.

“After verifying the vehicle, it was established that the vehicle was sought for another case in Kwamhlanga whereby the owner was killed.”

Upon further investigation by the police, it was discovered that the same suspect had been arrested on a number of occasions in relation to other vehicle-related crimes.

Mogale explained that the information that was given by the suspect after he had been interviewed led to another residence in Midrand.

“A Toyota Fortuner SUV was found with false registration plates and license discs, also sought in a Kempton Park case of motor vehicle theft.
