Swift police response recovers hijacked vehicle in Midrand
When the police tried to stop the hijacked vehicle, two suspects jumped off it and fled while two others got arrested.
Two male suspects were arrested by police in Midrand for allegedly hijacking a vehicle transporting computers.
Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the police were doing their routine patrol when they were stopped by the victim who told them he had just been hijacked.
“According to the victim, four men hijacked the vehicle and kidnapped him and offloaded the merchandise he was transporting,” said Nevhuhulwi.
“They dropped him off near Waterfall Cemetery in Midrand where he saw the police. The members swiftly responded and the suspects’ vehicle was spotted.”

Nevhuhulwi said when the police tried to stop the vehicle, two suspects jumped out and fled while the other two accomplices were arrested.
The arrested men were found in possession of a gun with a filed-off serial number, live ammunition, and jamming devices.
The hijacked vehicle was recovered and further investigations led to the location where the computers had been loaded off.
Nevhuhulwi said they were still looking for the other two suspects.
“The arrested suspects aged 26 and 47 are expected to appear before court soon on charges of hijacking, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.”
Nevhuhulwi commended the police for their swift response and alertness.
