NICOLAS MANYIKE: I have personally not used the minibus as yet but I strongly believe that they are a bit exorbitant. However, on the flip side of the coin, it is guaranteed to get quality service from the drivers and management.

The Gautrain Management Agency has been operating a public transport integration model with the Taxi industry since 2011.

This model partnership mode is referred to as the Minibus Feeder Distributor Service (MFDS).

The partnership is between the Alexander, Randburg, Midrand, and Sandton Taxi Associations, and together these organisations have formed the Alexander Transport Solution that is currently operating the MFDS from the Gautrain Malboro Station.

SPHELELE SHABALALA: I haven’t used the minibus to travel but as a public transport passenger who values his waiting time, I think the delivery rate of its transferring passengers to public transport interchanges is heavily uneven and spiked.
TUMELO NTULI: This method is not different from e-hailing services. People are likely to pay more for more. I think it will make travelling easier compared to catching two or three trips of transport to reach your destination that ideally,could be accessed with one trip. It will also provide customers safety which is important nowadays.

Midrand Reporter went on the streets to ask local residents how has the MFDS been useful for them, here is what they had to say?

SIBUSISO LUBISI: I think that model will help young professionals who need to access various destinations quickly. It will also help those who are not using their cars to work move from point A to B easily, safely and smoothly.
TEBOGO MABUSELA: I am highly satisfied with the feeder minibus services on offer because of personal security in the vehicle and driver compliance like obeying traffic laws and safe driving behaviour.
