The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall law students bags first-princess at the Miss Global SA

She has the opportunity to become an international model as she will visit New York in September this year to partake in New York Fashion Week.

There has been a lot of excitement brewing for The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall student Melissa-Ayanda Moyani.

Moyani is a first-year Bachelor of Laws student who always strives to be more.

She made the grade in legal studies when she obtained her IIE Higher Certificate and she was recently selected as Miss Global South Africa’s first princess.

Moyani said that she was driven to register for the Miss Global pageant after being motivated by a woman during the previous pageant she participated in.

“One amazing parent, whom I will always hold dear to my heart, called me aside after Miss Gauteng 2023, my previous pageant,” said Moyani.

“She told me how much potential and greatness she saw in all of the contestants that day and how she sees us succeeding in the pageant industry. Hearing that from a mother, and not even my own, really impacted me and made me realise how amazing we can be because of self-belief. However, the truest feeling is when someone else believes in you just as much if not more.”

Later that day, Moyani saw a Miss Global Princess SA pageant advert and remembered the words of that woman and decided to enter.

A leadership award based on leadership skills which included motivating and uplifting others, a personality award based on being the best version of oneself and the Miss Global SA first princess award was won by Moyani during the pageant in the Miss Category.

These achievements earned the go-getter Moyani an opportunity to become an international model as she will visit New York in September this year to partake in New York Fashion Week.

“Apart from the glitz and glam, education also plays a huge part in my life and my future. I have always loved the idea of education and, most importantly learning about our justice system.

“I believed from a very young age that with my passion for law and my qualities I would make the best Advocate and I believe that The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall delivers top law graduates which motivated me to study here.”

Moyani concluded that she wants to further in the future and she is also part of the campus’s first cheerleading team — an excellent example of balancing academic life with a healthy student experience.
