Midrand CPF chairperson pleased with sector managers and community members’ working relationship

Tracy Basson, chairperson of the Midrand Community Policing Forum, said everyone involved with the CPF worked towards one goal, and that was fighting crime in the area.

Chairperson Tracy Basson said the highlight for the Midrand Community Policing Forum (CPF) in 2024 was the start of a new year with new executive committees for the forum and the sector forums.

“To address the ever-increasing challenges faced by our community, we created numerous ad hoc positions to support the CPF executive in those specific areas, and also selected a facilitator [Chris Gatsi] to re-establish our youth desk. Our youth desk has excelled at every level possible, even hosting a successful debate competition among some of the high schools in Midrand. We were honoured to have our deputy Minister of Women, Youth, and People with Disabilities [Steve Letsike] present at the finals,” said Basson.

She also said, for the first time in several years, their sector executives had been fully functional and actively involved in their various sectors and with their residents.

“We also received a Midrand CPF branded gazebo, banners, and table cloth, as well as a CPF patroller’s bus, to assist our members with transport. On behalf of the CPF, we wish our community and residents a wonderful festive season with their family and friends, and may they have a happy and prosperous New Year in 2025,” said Basson.

Basson, former deputy chairperson of the forum, took over from Steven Johnson, who had been on the throne for a decade, when she was elected to the hot seat in November 2023. She immediately called on community members to work with sector managers to fight crime.
