Crowthorne’s Midland Primary and High School maintains 100% pass mark

After receiving a 100% pass rate for the last two years, Midland Primary and High School principal hopes for 85% bachelor passes in 2025.

The Midland Primary School and High School (MPHS) principal, Sharira Padayachy, is pleased with the 100% pass rate for the Class of 2024.

Padayachy said they are hoping to improve the school’s bachelor passes in the 2025 academic year.

She said 22 learners, out of 29 who had registered for the National Senior Certificates (NSC), received bachelors, which is 76%. This year they are eyeing 85%.

“And also improve our distinctions because last year we got 15 distinctions and this year we are hoping to improve on that as well. For the rest of the school, we want to maintain our 100% pass because by doing that, we are ensuring that the Grade 12 learners aren’t under to much pressure to achieve results at the end of the year, since they’ve been doing it all year long,” said Padayachy.

She said most of the Class of 2024 joined them from a young age, at the primary school level.

Padayachy said they were also happy getting the Cambridge accreditation, which will be implemented in this year’s academic year. “I think we also need to praise all the learners, teachers, and parents for their commitment. We worked very hard to get the accreditation and it means our standard is up there. It shows that we are one of the best schools, in terms of independent schools, in Midrand.”

Though they were excited about the accreditation, they were also nervous, and the accreditation brings pressure to ensure that they maintain that Cambridge standard. “Of course, it does bring pressure,” Padayachy said. “But I think the pressure that it brings, it’s a good one. I am sure it will be fun and keep us on our toes to strive for better marks.”

In 2023, the school also obtained 100% matric pass rate.
