Five bodies pulled from Hennops River near Midrand

Police have discovered the bodies of five people, three of whom may be police officers who went missing last week while on their way to a deployment area in Limpopo.

A total of five bodies were pulled from the Hennops River near Midrand on April 29.

Three of the bodies are believed to belong to three missing police officers, who were last seen last week – this however has not yet been confirmed as the families have not yet been able to identify the bodies.

The missing constables, Linda Cebekhulu (24), Boipelo Senoge (20), and Keamogetswe Buys (30), were travelling from from Bloemfontein to Limpopo in a white Volkswagen at the time of their disappearance.

The trio had been last seen at an Engen garage near Grasmere.

According to Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, their investigation led them to the Hennops River where the tragic discovery of the five bodies was made.

Mathe also stated that the police were in search the vehicle the police officers were driving at the time of their disappearance.

“We have maximum resources here that are searching the area. We have our forensics on the scene. It is a difficult moment for us,” said Mathe.
