Power outage hits Rabie Ridge Extension 5 amid cold front
Power outages have hit both Rabie Ridge and Waterfall Business Park as technical teams work to repair faults in the cold weather.
Residents of Rabie Ridge extension 5 are braving more than just cold weather today.
An unplanned power outage, caused by damage to aerial bundle conductors, has left the entire area without electricity as technicians work to restore the supply.
City Power teams isolated the area early this morning to carry out urgent repairs linked to the Allandale substation. The timing couldn’t be worse, as a cold front sweeping across Johannesburg has already pushed temperatures down, leaving many households without heating.
The power utility anticipates that power will be restored by 16:00, but Rabie Ridge is not the only area affected. In Waterfall Business Park, the Bekker switching station tripped late yesterday following a double circuit fault.
City Power has dispatched a team to investigate the cause and locate the exact site of the faults.
