Mayibuye Youth Activism Movement donates clothes on Mandela Day
Movement chairperson Loyiso Sohoyiya says they want to improve the social well-being of the needy and the community at large.
In a true spirit of giving, the Mayibuye Youth Activism Movement held a Mandela Day where they handed out clothes to the needy.
The Mandela Day celebration on July 18 was held at Mayibuye Park.
The organisation’s chairperson, Loyiso Sohoyiya, said not only did they donate clothing items, but also goodie bags, health packs, and served hundreds of community members with food and refreshments.
“We would like to thank the community for donating clothes. We further acknowledge and send our greatest gratitude to Atlas Plant Hire for their constant support,” said Sohoyiya.

He said this initiative was a great success, because of the support from sponsors: Uber, Mamashes, Thembisa Wholesaler and all individual community members who assisted with various forms of donations.
He said they live under the guidance and wise words of the ‘Moral Father’ of our nation, Nelson Mandela. “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”
Sohoyiya concluded that the movement hopes to inspire prosperity and progress in their community.
