Midrand Sector 1 Crime Forum says gas cylinder theft has increased at filling stations

Petrol garages in Sector 1 Crime Forum warned to be vigilant over high theft of gas cylinders.

Petrol stations in the Midrand Sector 1 Crime Forum area are experiencing an increase of gas cylinder theft.

The Sector 1 Crime Forum, which services Glen Austin, President Park, and Halfway House suburbs, is a sub-forum of the Midrand Community Police Forum.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thabiso Angelina Selowa-Kutu said this was happening in the evening from around 20:00 onwards.

She further urged garages in other sectors to remain vigilant.

“We would like to advise companies or firms to improve their security. The petrol garages in Sector 1 and other sectors should also beef up their security to try to curb the scourge,” said Selowa-Kutu.

She urged garage owners to report any suspicious car movements at their petrol stations.

Selowa-Kutu concluded that community members must also report any suspicious activities to the sector patrol on WhatsApp at 069 69 70170.
