The Sector 3 Community Policing Forum (CPF), with strong support from Midrand SAPS, hosted an Awareness Day dedicated to promoting safety and strengthening community-police partnerships.

Crime forum chairperson Dinesh Sookdeo said several volunteers also played a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the programme, reflecting the spirit of community involvement.

“Focus areas of the Awareness Day included programmes addressing several key issues affecting residents, such as gender-based violence (GBV), reinforcing the urgent need to combat GBV and support victims, and aligning with the international 16 Days of Activism campaign against violence towards women and children,” said Sookdeo.

He said they also shared practical tips to safeguard residents during the busy festive season at the shopping complexes, and general safety, where they encouraged patrons to remain vigilant, report responsibly, and strengthen community-police collaboration.

“Stakeholders present actively engaged with community members, discussing safety concerns and offering guidance on crime prevention. A variety of communications and pamphlets were distributed, providing valuable information on the focus areas and ensuring residents were left better informed,” added Sookdeo.

On behalf of the forum’s executive committee, he extended heartfelt thanks to SAPS and the many volunteers who contributed to the day’s success.

Sookdeo concluded that their combined efforts ensured the Awareness Day was not only informative but also impactful, reinforcing the CPF’s commitment to building safer, more resilient communities.
