Family of Midrand philanthropist welcomes 2026 with acts of kindness

While many welcomed the new year with parties and resolutions, the Nagaraju family started 2026 with open hearts, reminding the community that kindness is the most meaningful way to begin a new chapter.

The new year began on a compassionate note for children at Hotel Homes Orphanage, thanks to a heartfelt community service initiative led by the family of Midrand-based philanthropist Gurrala Nagaraju.

Marking the start of 2026, on January 1, Nagaraju – who also serves as a director of Uplift A Child South Africa – together with his wife, children, and close friends, visited the orphanage to donate essential groceries, food items, and daily necessities to the young residents.

Beyond the donations, the family spent quality time engaging with the children, creating moments of joy, laughter, and connection. The visit was aimed not only at meeting immediate needs but also at offering emotional support and encouragement to the children as the new year unfolded.

Speaking on the occasion, Nagaraju said starting the year through service was deeply fulfilling.

“Beginning the new year by giving back brings immense happiness. Even a small contribution can fill lives with hope. Giving back to society is everyone’s responsibility.”

The initiative, which welcomed the new year with love, compassion, and unity, received positive responses.

Organisers expressed hope that such service activities would inspire many others to contribute towards the well-being of the community.
