Revenue section first to reopen at Region A Customer Service Centre

Residents can now access services such as account queries, billing, and opening new accounts.

After two months of renovations, during which residents were denied access, the Region A Customer Service Centre in Randjespark has reopened for Midrand residents.
Currently, only the Revenue Services Department is operational, while other departments remain closed.

Following a lengthy wait, the centre reopened on April 20. However, the closure created problems for residents: some were unable to pay their bills, while others were billed twice and are still waiting for assistance.

Ward 112 councillor Lerato Mphefo said she was working to help residents, and now that the centre had reopened, she could escalate matters more effectively.

“I have gone inside the customer service centre, and I have seen where the revenue offices, cashiers and waiting area are, and all I can say is that it is a work in progress from the last time I was here.

“At least residents are now allowed to do walk-ins and fix their revenue issues because it has honestly been a tough time for them after a very long wait since the centre was closed in February on the 27th.”

Residents can now access services such as account queries, billing, and opening new accounts. While some offices remain closed, Mphefo encouraged residents not to lose hope about the full reopening.

She cautioned, however, that the reopening was only partial. “It is not entirely a good thing because residents still won’t be able to access some services.”
During the closure, residents had to travel outside their jurisdiction to centres such as Sandton, adding to their frustration.

The Randjespark centre was closed due to relocation and subsequent renovations.

Residents are now encouraged to use the reopened centre for revenue services while waiting for other departments to complete renovations.
