Nizamiye Primary and High School recently welcomed the Midrand SPCA for an educational visit aimed at teaching learners about the importance of animal care, safety and responsible pet ownership.

During the visit on August 18, learners were given the opportunity to learn more about the important work carried out by the SPCA and how everyone can play a role in protecting and caring for animals.

The session encouraged learners to show kindness and compassion towards animals and helped them understand the responsibility that comes with owning a pet.

In support of the visit, the school also held an SPCA donation drive. Parents and learners responded with incredible generosity, donating a large amount of dog and cat food, treats and other much-needed items for animals in the society’s care.

The initiative was a wonderful opportunity to extend learning beyond the classroom while encouraging our learners to make a positive difference in their community.

The school extended its sincere appreciation to the SPCA for taking the time to educate their learners, as well as to parents and learners for their generous support of the donation drive.

School principal Huseyin Gencel said, “As a school, we have the opportunity to make a real difference. By donating to the SPCA, we are not only giving food, shelter, and medical care to animals in need, but we are also teaching ourselves and children the values of compassion, responsibility, and community service.

“It is heartening to see our Nizamiye Primary and High School learners and parents rally together to support the noble work that the Midrand SPCA does.

As a school, we feel it is our duty to support the organisations in our community, like the SPCA, whose mission it is to protect those who cannot fend for themselves.
