Carlswald pavement house not a mystery

There is no mystery; the house had been on that plot for many years.

The area was known as Halfway House long before Midrand was developed.

Harry Galaun Road was a dirt road, nowhere near this house, and the powers that be decided to build a major tar road and route through the site of the house, when the quest by the council to find the owner started.

It was reported in your newspaper that the municipality owned the land, yet they could not evict the tenants and they continued to live there.

There have been many articles in Midrand Reporter over the years about this house, as a health hazard, overrun with rats, without sanitation or electricity.

No one, it seems, has resolved the issue. Facts would be interesting, instead of all the theories about it.

The house is on Harry Galaun Road, not Lever Road, since Lever only starts after crossing New Road.
