Saturday cricket sides stumble
MIDRAND - Midrand Cricket Club’s Saturday 8 side had every reason to be confident going into their match against Crescents Cricket Club.
The only question was if they would be able to overcome the mental block they seem to have when playing in Lenasia. The answer would be a resounding no as the side slumped to their second defeat of the season with a sub-par performance. To rub salt in the wound, news filtered in that the club’s Saturday 5 side had also gone down to a resolute Marlboro side at the Olifantsfontein oval.
On the Sunday however, the Sunday 5 side would bring some respite from a miserable weekend with a convincing win over Edenglen Old Boys.
Some brilliant bowling from Kubin Govindsamy, who took five wickets for 17 runs, setup an easy run chase that saw Kubin again starring with a 46 off 40 balls alongside Kamran Zaki who top-scored with a 62 not out.
Midrand Cricket Club holds its practice sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday at the Summerhill School, and new members are welcome.
