Check Matey: Knights beat Pirates

MIDRAND - Midrand Knights Cricket Club took an easy win over Pirates Cricket Club at Sir Lionel Phillips Park, Greenside on 9 November.

Pirates won the toss and elected to bowl on a slow and dry wicket. Knights scored 250 runs with a loss of seven wickets in 40 overs. This total was exceptional on a wicket that 180 to 200 was a par score. The wicket deteriorated further, and Pirates were bowled out for 156 in 35 overs.

Midrand Knights won by 94 runs.

Midrand Knights Cricket Club’s Jeremy Meiring said, “It was an excellent team performance with everyone making a contribution with either bat or ball, except for Vamshi Vure, who fired with both. He scored 52 and took two runs with a loss of 21 wickets in six overs, therefore scooping the man of the match award.”

Other contributors worth mentioning were Suresh Kaja, Jeremy Meiring, Adril D’Almeida and Shumail Ahmed.
