Double win for Davids
BLUE HILLS - Tracy Davids was on top-form on 24 November as she thrilled the audience at Penny Place Stables’ grand opening show.
Sponsored by Porsche, the event marked the opening of the new show venue, stable yard and riding school in Blue Hills. The venue is tucked away from the hustle of traffic in a green valley setting on Jakkalsbessie Street. Penny Place Stables moved to the new venue five months ago from Wroxham Road in Paulshof.
Kate Launder designed the course in one of the venue’s three arenas.
The show ran over two days with the main stakes in the 1.3m classes on 24 November.
Tracy Davids, riding Blakeney Boy, did not miss a beat in the Porshe 1.3m championship class, as she was the only rider to clear both the first round and the jump-off to win first place.
Riders raced against the clock in the Porsche 1.3m Speed Stakes as they tried to make a fast time. Michelle Bradford put the pressure on, riding Marshlands Mystic Tempest clear in a time of 67.13 seconds. Davids was next to go and she took the course in her stride as she cleared it in a time of 59.04 seconds.
The audience was kept on the edge of their seats as five more horse and rider combinations entered the area to attempt to clear the track in a faster time than Davids, but no one else could clear the round.
Davids won the class with Bradford in second place. Bruce Dewar, riding Capital A Star, placed third after he incurred four faults after knocking a pole in a time of 64.43 seconds. Sandra Dewar, riding Make Much Oleander, also incurred four faults in a time of 64.93 seconds in order to place fourth. Commentator Trevor Burn of Penny Place Stables commended Dewar on her ride, saying it was an ‘inspiring’ round. Tanya Ann Denny, riding Virgo, placed fifth in the class.
With two class wins in the bag, Davids was awarded the 1.3m Victor Ludorum.
Anneli Wucherpfennig of Penny Place Stables thanked the riders for their loyal support and extended a big thank you to Porshe for their continued support of the show venue.
