Knights in fine form
MIDRAND - The Midrand Knights first team took on SA7 heavyweights, Germiston City Cricket Club.
Chairperson of the Midrand Knights, Jeremy Meiring said, “Germiston struggled throughout their innings as it was a very difficult wicket to play freely on. They were ultimately dismissed for 100 in 36 overs.”
Knights’ fast bowler Adril D’Almeida took 3/22 and the spinning duo of captain Krishna Prasad (2/20) and Shumail Ahmad (2/16) restricted the opposition to the low total. In reply, Sai Lingala and Phanindra Lingam produced a third wicket partnership of 50 in 15 overs to setup a comfortable two-wicket victory for the Knights. Fittingly
D’Almeida scored the winning runs in the 35th over.
Midrand Knights second team hosted Commercials Cricket Club in a SA8 fixture. Knights’ captain Suman Choudary won the toss and elected to bat. Rajaram Bingi scored an impressive 55 which included a 55-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Somu Shekar. The Knights were bowled out for 140 in 27 overs.
Commercials were bowled out for 125 in the 38th over with Knights’ Amar Jammula picking up 4/11 in six overs giving his side a 15-run victory.
Bingi has now scored eight half centuries in 11 matches which makes him the highest run scorer in the club.
