Kyalami runners in good form

KYALAMI - Kyalami Running Club's athletes conquered the Two Oceans Marathon and half marathon yet again this year.

The runners from the club, based in Kyalami Estates, travelled to Cape Town for the race.

Sonja Ludick was the first of the club’s women to cross the finish line in 05.17.00. This was an improvement on her 2013 time of 05.21.52.

The first of the club’s men to cross the finish line were Ricki Allen and Roy Odegard in 05.31.00. The club’s Gillian Keartland said all of the club’s 15 entrants completed the gruelling 56km route.

“The bravery award goes to Nozuko Makhuvha who completed the 56km, just missing the cut off by seven minutes due to running with an injury, and is now diagnosed with a fractured hip,” said Keartland. “So unfortunately Comrades is off the cards for Nozuko until 2015.”

The club also had 15 runners competing in the 21km half marathon.

Steve Harcourt-Cooke was the first club man to finish in a time of 01.51.00, with Heidi Visser not far behind, finishing in 02.09.00

Keartland said all 15 entrants completed the 21km route.
