Run for beer
MIDRAND - A new fun run is coming to Midrand that encourages the community to hydrate by sipping on craft beer while they run.
The aim is to mix South African’s two favourite pastimes: beer and sport.
The Crafty Beer Crawl is a 5km fun run and will be held on 5 July at the Big Red Barn in Olifantsfontein. As runners participate in the race, they can stop off at every kilometre to savour local beers, participate in challenges, and enjoy entertainment.
Smack Republic, a brewery based in the Joburg CBD’s Maboneng Precinct, will showcase their craft beers.
Participants are encouraged to wear their running shoes and bring a picnic basket for after the run.
Batches of 200 participants will compete, with the first batch setting off at 8.30am and the next batches setting off every 15 minutes.
