Cycle for the animals
MIDRAND - The Society for Animals in Distress is looking for riders to cycle the 94.7 Cycle Challenge in the Ride for A Purpose category.
This is to raise funds for the organisation, based in Vorna Valley.
Carmen Douglas-Kilfoil, corporate and media fundraiser for the society said charity teams had to have at least 20 riders who have entered and paid to ride by 17 June. The race will only take place on 16 November.
She said the organisation was under pressure to get cyclists to commit to cycle.
Douglas-Kilfoil said, “Thank you to our 2013 riders, we raised over R60 000, after final tallies done, for our organisation and this is one event we can’t do alone! You, our supporters, animal lovers, cycling enthusiasts and weekend warriors, you made it happen!”
She called on riders to cycle for the organisation again.
She said it was important so they could raise funds and awareness for the society.
She said there were only 8 000 riding places allocated to those riding for a purpose.
The society is a non-profit organisation that recognises the critical need for primary health and professional veterinary care for animals in the townships of Johannesburg. It depends solely on the generosity of the public and corporate businesses for sponsorships and donations.
