Midrand Cricket Club continues their good performance
MIDRAND - Midrand Cricket Club’s SA7 side continue on their winning streak. They added another victory over Pirates Cricket Club on 11 October on PCC's home ground in Greenside.
The side put on a performance that saw their opponents restricted to 95 all out. The Paceman duo of Anuranjan Reddy and Thando Mrawu proved too much for the hosts as they bagged four and three wickets respectively.
The Midrand side knocked off the runs in 24 overs with eight wickets to spare.
At the same time, the SA4 side were involved in a battle against Wanderers Cricket Club at the Olifantsfontien Oval.
They lost the game and the home side were put in to bat first. The top order took a cautious approach as they made their way to a total of 172, with Sifundile Lofty Tyebileyo recording his first 50 of the season. In their response, the Wanderers left the home side questioning their approach as some aggressive batting saw them reaching the target well within their overs.
On 12 October, the SU5 side overcame the Edenglen side as they paid tribute to Tony Rowbottom. Rowbotton is one of their members who was a victim of a motorbike accident as recorded in https://www.citizen.co.za/midrand-reporter/114184/motorcycle-fire-n1/. They won comfortably with eight wickets. Standout performances came from Lloyd Naidoo and Graeme Penny who scored 91 and 48 respectively. 15-year-old sensation, Devyn Hadfield, stood out with the ball as he picked up four wickets.
