Midrand Cricket Club squeek in
MIDRAND - Midrand Cricket Club travelled to Lenasia to play against Dexina Cricket Club where they scored a narrow victory.
The home side won the toss and decided to bat first. The posted a competitive score of 201/8 in 35 overs.
The Midrand side began their chase well, but the loss of wickets at pivotal moments pushed up the run rate to five an over. It all came down to the final over with Midrand needing five runs to win with two wickets in hand. The visitors hit a boundary off the first ball of the over leaving the scores tied, but in another twist Midrand lost a wicket. With Dexina needing one wicket to draw the match and the Midrand side needing a run to win, it was the visitors who kept their composure and scored the winning run with two balls to spare.
The man of the match award went to Midrand’s Lofty Tyebileyo who followed up his 50 from the previous week with a game-changing 49.
