Marathon training goes well

MIDRAND - A few runners joined the Midrand Striders Running Club on its annual 60km comrades training run on 19 April.

Club chairman Tim Walwyn said, “The training is ideally placed six weeks before the comrades marathon. The training run has become popular in the running calendar.”

Walwyn added that runners who came as far as the Democratic Republic of Congo joined the training run. The run started and ended at Noordwyk Primary school. Runners ran past Bridal Pass Street and other areas in Crowthorne.

Walwyn thanked club members who volunteered their time at the water points, making the training run a success.

This year’s Comrades will be an up-run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg on 31 May.
