Midrand cricket honoured at GCB awards

MIDRAND - MIDRAND Cricket Club's SA4 side was honoured at the Gauteng Cricket Board's (GCB) award ceremony.

 

This following their success in the SA4 league 2014/2015 season which also marked the first time the club has ever won one of the GCB’s leagues.

The glittering evening saw teams that were winners of their respective leagues gathering for an evening of celebration at the Wanderers Stadium.

Speaking at the function, chairman of the Midrand club, Nevish Rampersadh expressed his satisfaction with the club’s progress.

“We are on track in the next coming weeks,” he said.

“We will again be announcing a landmark agreement with one of our local schools. We are positioned to make significant contributions to the development of cricket and to the lives of our juniors. We are very excited and we cannot wait to get started.”

On 31 May, the club will host its Super Sixes tournament at its Olifantsfontien Oval. The tournament will see 10 teams taking part in a sevens-style format with the winner walking away with a grand prize.

There will be entertaining activities for children and a running competition for the parents. The event will begin at 4pm.
