Midrand Striders start the year in the fast lane!
MIDRAND - The 2016 Dis-Chem Pharmacies Half-Marathon, a race through Bedfordview held on 17 January at the Bedfordview Virgin Active Club, heralded the start of this year’s running activities for the runners of Midrand Striders.
Lwazi Khumalo, a member of Midrand Striders, said this year marked the 15th anniversary of this sporting event. She added, “One of our members who took park in the half marathon, Duane Newman, finished in a time of 1:45:00.”
After the first sporting event of the year, runners will now enjoy other running activities from the club’s new premises, Building Blocks Primary School on Harry Galaun Road, Midrand.
Regular long runs will be held on Sundays at 6.30am. Running time trials will be hosted on Tuesdays at 5:45pm and speed work will be held on Thursdays on the school field at 17.45pm.
