Midrand dojo raises funds for international competition and the public is urged to help

MIDRAND – Midrand dojo athletes are in need of funds and sponsors to cover expenses to attend the World Goju Ryu Karate Federation Championship.

Midrand Martial Arts Academy’s athletes have once again proven their athletic prowess by qualifying to represent South Africa at the World Goju Ryu Karate Federation Championship.

The event is scheduled to take place in Bucharest, Romania, from 14 to 17 September.

Under the guidance of Sensei Alfredo Ruocchio, Tyler Koekemoer, Khutso Phasha, Emma O’ Gorman, and Aitana and Khardan Ruocchio will represent the Midrand dojo and will join other South Africans from other dojos who will represent the country at this prestigious martial arts event.

In order to raise money for the trip, the athletes will organise a fundraising dinner at the Minnetonka Spur on 4 April. Patrons who want to support the fundraising initiative will have to inform the waiter or waitress on arrival at the restaurant so that a certain percentage of their bill will be donated towards the cause.

Khutso Phasha participates in a previous World Goju Ryu Karate Federation Championship.

The parents of the athletes, together with Sensei Ruocchio, have also initiated a raffle ticket sale. To purchase raffle tickets, contact Bridget Koekemoer on 084 505 3970 or Sannie Phasha on 084 470 7000.

Details: Should anyone be interested or able to sponsor the athletes in any other way, contact Sensei Ruocchio on 082 906 8801.
