Tshuma Stingers Rugby Club U13 team was awarded the Most Attractive Rugby Trophy at the 7s Tournament hosted by Blackrock College Rugby Club in Ireland, Dublin.
The team consisted of nine players, six of them from the impoverished areas of Ivory Park, Kaalfontein and Rabie Ridge, and two coaches.
“What an auspiciously amazing year it has been for the club,” said Ndumiso Tshuma the CEO and founder of Tshuma Stingers Rugby Club. “One would have thought the club lifting the Golden Lions Senior Grand Challenge Trophy for the first time after opening its doors to the rugby community in Midrand and its surrounds areas four years ago, would have been the crowning glory this year.”
He added that members of the club would gather on 14 October for their year-end function together with sponsors and well-wishers.
“This year will go down in the history book that this giant of a club came into its own. To the players, the coaches, parents, teachers, members of administrative staff and sponsors, I can only say thank you.”
