MIDRAND – Midrand's home of champions, Tshuma Stingers share their plans and extend their gratitude to those who have helped them get this far.

The Tshuma Stingers rugby club, based in Midrand, is excited to take on the new season from 30 January.

Tshuma Stingers CEO and club manager Ndumiso Tshuma said all past and present members of the team will report for duty on the 30th, adding that new members are also welcome to join the winning team for their preparations of the rugby season ahead.

“Off-season training will commence from 6pm at Midrand High School every Tuesday and Wednesday. As we slowly come closer to reopening we can promise all our fans and supporters that it will be yet another year with nothing less than the intense, action-packed rugby you love.”

Tshuma urged any parents thinking about getting their kids into rugby to do so by signing up for their junior club. “Children can start enjoying the beautiful game while maintaining a positive and healthy lifestyle from the age of seven.

“Our junior players resumed training on 18 January. Training is held every Saturday morning at Midrand High School starting from 8.30am to 10.30am with more training days and times projected for the month of February.”

We believe that the road to success is always under construction and our dedicated team will see to it that Midrand stays on the rugby map.”

Bojangles – Tshuma Stingers’ biggest supporter.

“A big thank you to Timmy Goodwin of the Golden Lions Rugby Union, our coaches, players, parents and schools for making our first-ever local schools’ rugby league a huge success in which Midrand High School won both the U17 and U15 age groups.”

He concluded, “From here on our junior club efforts can only rise and shine. Through this programme, the club has assisted Noordwyk Secondary School in putting teams together. We will be making efforts to see the school play in Golden Lions Schools league this year.”
