RABIE RIDGE – Mandla Mahlangu, manager for the Region A, Sport and Recreation Department said that the aerobics event was such a success, attendees requested a repeat in the next coming weekends


In a bid to promote healthy living, Region A Sports and Recreation Department held an aerobics class at Rabie Ridge Stadium on 13 March.

Local aerobics clubs and community members from Kanana, Rabie Ridge, Lord Khanyile, Ivory Park and Tembisa break a sweat.

The department’s manager Mandla Mahlangu explained that the event aimed to encourage a healthy lifestyle, increase physical fitness and improve mental health. It also encouraged participation in sport and recreation activities, and motivated social cohesion by bringing communities together through mass participation.

“Rabie Ridge Stadium was targeted for various reasons including that it is convenient as it has the necessary amenities and it is easily accessible. It meets all Covid-19 health protocol requirements… social distancing in particular,” said Mahlangu.

The sweat-breaking event was attended by local aerobics clubs and community members from Kanana, Rabie Ridge, Lord Khanyile, Ivory Park and Tembisa. All the sessions were provided for free to the community.

“It was listed as very exciting and entertaining by the participants themselves. Thus they want to have a repeat at the same venue on 27 March.”
