Midrand Cricket Club maintains positive results
MIDRAND – The Midrand Cricket Club's U8 and promotion teams each won their weekend games against Tembisa Cricket Club and Etwatwa Cricket Club, setting the mood for the rest of the season.

A local cricket club continues to keep its performance on top, both at junior and senior level.
According to the head coach of Midrand Cricket Club (MCC), George Mukoki, after waiting for so long for the return of cricket action, the club continues to produce positive results.
Mukoki said Midrand Cricket Club’s U8 team played against Tembisa Cricket Club’s U8 team on November 6. Tembisa batted first and scored 78/10 in 17 overs, to which Midrand replied with 79/3 inside 12 overs – winning by seven wickets.

“Well bowled to Paardha Paardha who took three wickets on the day, setting up a clinical MCC juniors victory. The MCC Promotion team were also in action for their first fixture of the season against Etwatwa Cricket Club at the Oliphant Cricket Oval on November 7,” he said.
Mukoki added that Midrand Promotion won the toss and chose to bat on a slow wicket, setting a modest target of 180 as they were bowled out for 179 in 45 overs.
“It ended up being a nail-biting encounter with Etwatwa CC [Cricket Club] needing just nine runs from 12 balls to win the game,” Mukoki said.

“However, it went to the last over with Midrand winning the game by four runs. It was a great anchor role from Abhinav Goel as he hung on the other side, patiently scoring 32 off 90 oddballs proving to be the glue that held the MCC batting innings together,”

Mukoki applauded Molope Molope who top-scored with 40 off 62 balls.
He concluded that bowling was the defence of the team as they rallied together to get the victory, even as they were stuck in a tough situation. “Credit to the team for getting the required results at the end of the match.”
