Midrand Spoilers winless in nine matches in the regional league

After losing 3-1 to Alex Black Poison, Spoilers finds itself in the relegations zone of the Safa Joburg regional league.

Midrand Spoilers’ winless run extended to eight games as Alex Black Poison heaped yet more misery on the Midrand side.

After losing 3-1 to the Slow Poison of Alex on February 25 at Alex Safe Hub, Spoilers finds itself in the relegations zone of the Safa Joburg regional league.

Spoilers sit on position 17 of the log with the same level of 10 points as Wolfs occupying position 18, while Ma-Afrika is in position 19 with seven points and Chief Rollers below who are no longer active in the league.

During their visit to Safe Hub, Spoilers looked bereft of attacking ideas in the opening minutes and Black poison was the first team to hit the scoresheets after Simfumene Mongqotho tapped in home in emphatic style just past the half-hour mark.

It was an impressive opener from the slow poison of Alex who had started the game slowly. Masibonge Zondo had a chance to double the lead but his effort flew just over the bar before Black poison piled on the pressure again and Luyanda Oncapai’s strike was blocked inside the box.

Spoilers leveled the scores at the stroke of half-time when Sibusiso Matshinganhla pulled the back to Avuyile ‘Chili’ Mancase who smashed the ball into the bottom corner, but Oncapai restored Black Poisone’s lead in the second half with a thumping strike inside the box.\

The hosts continued to look more threatening as Zondo’s efforts went wide, and Mongqotho should have done better when he also sent a free header wide.

Black Poison’s dominance and control of the position was rewarded when Spoilers Jabulani Masango got a red card after a reckless tackle to Sibusiso Mntabubo at the edge of Spoiler box.

Zondo took responsibility of the dead-ball an added their third in the 82nd minute, slotting the ball at Spoiler keeper’s left corner to make it 3-1.

They travel back to Alex on March 4 to face Malandela Mighty Heroes before hosting them for the second leg at Rabie Ridge Stadium on March 5.
