Blockbuster Extreme Festival thrills Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit
From the extreme excitement of the Dunlop Supercars and the drama of the South African Touring Cars and SupaCup, to the cutthroat action of Astron Energy Polo Cup and Toyota Gazoo Racing Cup, there was something for everyone, and a lot more, as the regional classes joined the fun.
The Blockbuster Extreme Festival, presented by Coca-Cola, turned up the excitement at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on April 12.
Participants and fans alike experienced a packed day of thrilling races, featuring the Dunlop Supercars, South African Touring Cars, SupaCup, Astron Energy Polo Cup, and Toyota Gazoo Racing Cup, with plenty of action across regional classes.

Pole sitter Bradley Liebenberg’s Audi dominated the opening Extreme Supercars race, clinching a hat trick victory with a flawless performance. Young contender Ryan Naicker, driving a Mercedes-AMG GT3, faced tough competition from Jonathan du Toit’s Lamborghini Huracan and other skilled drivers. The second heat saw Naicker leading initially, only to be overtaken by Du Toit and Liebenberg, with technical issues sidelining Liebenberg from a podium finish.

In the South African Touring Cars, Michael van Rooyen and Julian van der Watt faced off, with Saood Variawa leading early, before a dramatic race unfolded. Variawa faced penalties that altered the race outcomes, allowing debutant Keegan Campos to claim a well-deserved victory.

The SATC SupaCup featured intense action, with Jonathan Mogotsi initially dominating, but facing penalties that reshuffled the standings, leading to Tate Bishop’s third consecutive win.
Tyler Robinson shone in the Astron Energy Polo Cup, securing her first pole position and translating it into a brilliant lights-to-flag win against tough competition.

As the day concluded, GR Yaris Media Cup racer Nabil Abdool showcased his talent, and emerging classes began setting the stage for an exciting future.
