Waterfall City Athletics Club’s annual half-marathon is growing in leaps and bounds
Race director Mpho Makhado said plans were underway for the 2026 edition to ensure a smooth event, following some hiccups this year.
Nobuhle Tshuma and Given Mudzinganyama were crowned winners at the Waterfall City Athletics Club Half-Marathon 2025 in the 21km race for the women and men’s categories, respectively.
Renata Vosloo and Gina Pocock came second and third to Tshuma, while Rhangani Rirhandzu and Ntsindiso Mphakathi finished behind Mudzinganyama.
The half-marathon was held on September 21, with about 7 000 runners contesting in the 5km, 10km, and 21km races.

Mpho Makhado, race director, said he was proud of the half-marathon, after hosting 6 000 runners last year.
“The success of the Waterfall City Half-Marathon 2025 would not have been possible without the incredible support of our sponsors and partners, who play a vital role in bringing this event to life.
Their commitment to health, wellness, and community upliftment continues to drive the growth of this race, ensuring that it remains a highlight on Gauteng’s running calendar.”

He added that while the race was a tremendous success, they acknowledge a few logistical hiccups that arose on the day.
“We extend our sincere thanks to all participants, supporters, and partners for their patience and understanding, and for embracing the spirit of the race despite these hiccups.
