Stolen vehicle recovered by SAPS near Kaapmuiden

Police received a tip-off about a vehicle with false number plates.

A multi-disciplinary operation led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a suspect today, June 20.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe said intelligence was received about a red Toyota Hilux travelling in Mpumalanga, allegedly with false number plates.

“The information was immediately acted upon, leading members to the Nkomazi Toll Gate, where the vehicle was successfully intercepted,” said Nonyane-Mpe.

Preliminary investigations confirmed that the vehicle’s identification number corresponded with a vehicle reported stolen in Gauteng.

The suspect was arrested and detained by Kaapmuiden SAPS on a charge of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.
