Pensioner arrested for charcoal theft
He was found in possession of 6 400 bags of charcoal allegedly stolen from the Charcoal Company in Piet Retief.

MIDDELBURG – A 64-year-old man was arrested in connection with an alleged theft and possession of stolen charcoal worth R2,1 million.
He appeared before the Delmas Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
“The suspect was arrested on October 20 by members of the Secunda Serious Organised Crime Unit and SANEB after he was found in possession of 6 400 bags of charcoal allegedly stolen from the Charcoal Company in Piet Retief,” explained Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, spokesperson of Hawks in Mpumalanga.
