Five grade six and seven learners of Edu Code Primary School were crowned champions in the 17th Annual World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) which was held on July 19 in Los Angeles in the United States.
Talent contestants from more than 40 countries and the USA vied for the crown in various competitive events: dancing, singing, modeling, acting, variety and instrumental.

The talented young South Africans from the rural areas of KaMhlushwa in Nkomazi Municipality were crowned the world champs in performing arts, specifically dramatic arts, and conquered other performers who participated in the different competitions including dancing, singing, modelling, acting, instrumental and a variety of other activities.

“We were overjoyed by the results, we represented the country in dramatic art and became the world champions,” said the school’s director Xolisile Ntuli during their warm welcome at the Kruger Mpumalanaga International Airport on July 24.

She added the group’s drama on Africa left everyone on their toes begging for more.
