His wish is to share his concept with Gumede

He believes his idea will benefit young people in the province.

MBOMBELA- It’s that time again of the year when Mr Robert Matana Gumede celebrates his 50th birthday with citizens of this province.

While everybody seems to be so excited about Gumede’s celebration, a loyal young reader of Mpumalanga News from the deep rural area of Acornhoek, who embraces culture, Peace Mathebula (23) has written an open letter to him.

Speaking to this paper, Mathebula said he believed that meeting Gumede would make his dream of hosting the Unity in Diversity, ultimate culture exhibition, a reality next year during Heritage Month.

”My biggest wish is to meet Mr Gumede and share my concept with him. I’m a young person who wants to promote culture in our province since I have noticed that these days, we are forgetting where we come from as black Africans. We end up undermining other tribes and then we claim that we are united as South Africans,“ said Mathebula.

He added that the exhibition was also going to benefit other young people in the province, especially those who would showcase their work because there would be a a traditional fashion show that would be traditional, but presented in a modern way.

”It will be a good platform for fashion designers to market their work, as I believe that as young people, we don’t have to wait for hand-outs, we must stand up and make things happen and while you are progressing, we also need to plough back to our communities and uplift those who are still struggling to achieve their goals in life,“ explained Mathebula.

He said if everything went well, the exhibition would be hosted annually during Heritage Month.
