Fugitives sought by police

Police are on a manhunt for five awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from lawful custody in Mhala police cells on Sunday, 05 January 2014.

NELSPRUIT – Police are on a manhunt for five awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from lawful custody in Mhala police cells on Sunday, 05 January 2014.

Six escapees have cut off the top burglar proof on the exercise cell and escaped. Police managed to re-arrest one prisoner, Trevor Khosa (24) arrested for robbery immediately after the incident. Pieces of hack saw blades believed to be the ones that were used by the fugitives to escape were found in the cells.

The details of the fugitives are as follows:

• France Jacky Sekgobela (35) arrested for murder.

• Eugene Riding (27) for murder.

• Rodney Nyakane (26) murder.

• Tumelo Theko (20) for rape.

• Ishmael Radingoana (28) for rape.

An internal probe is underway to determine the circumstances which led to the getaway.
