Community urged to pray

MSHOLOZI – The local ward councillor has urged local churches to pray for this settlement as it is fast becoming famous for the wrong reasons due to an escalation in criminal activities.
Cllr Kenneth Mkhonta urged Christians to seriously pray against all the evil deeds taking place in their residential areas on a daily basis. He said this while visiting a number of churches in his ward over the Easter weekend.
He paid a courtesy visit to a number of churches around Msholozi and Matsafeni, which formed part of his constituency area. His visits included the Divine Tabernacle of God, Bread of Life Ministries, GE Ministries, Ethiopia Church in Zion all in Msholozi, as well as the New Creation Church and the Kingdom of God Church in Matsafeni.
This also marked history for most of the churches as it was the first time he had worshipped with them.
During his visits, Mkhonta emphasised how the ruling government loved and cared for the community’s welfare, urging Christians to pray for leaders and government as assigned by the Bible.
He added that services including water, electricity, sanitation, roads and others would finally be delivered at Msholozi once government completed the finalisation processes. “Things will never remain the same,” he said.
“The church’s role is to ask for God’s intervention in the running of a country. Pray for the government and all those in power so that we can live peacefully with one another,” he said while quoting the Holy Book from 1 Timothy 2:1-3, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.
For kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
This is good, and pleases God our Saviour.” Past Sindi Mashele of Bread of Life Ministries thanked the councillor for his surprise visits and said that the church would continue with its prayers to God.
