Man in blue is nabbed for aiding escape
Barely a month after two SAPS officials have been arrested for allegedly assisting a suspect to escape from lawful custody at Pienaar Police Station, a White River policeman is also in hot water after apparently aiding two suspects to escape.

WHITE RIVER-It is alleged that the two held in the holding cells escaped while the police were doing routine check-ups in the
cells.
Sgt Gerald Sedibe confirmed that an officer had been arrested in this
regard and was facing charges of aiding prisoners to escape from lawful custody.
This latest arrest of men in blue follows that of WO Petros Mashaba (53) and Sgt Amos Mathebula (55) of Pienaar who helped a notorious suspect arrested for armed robbery and possession of suspected stolen property to escape.
Investigations led to the arrest of the two officers. They appeared in the KaNyamazane Magistrate’s Court on June 4 and were granted free bail. They will appear again on July 10.
