MBOMBELA – Male circumcision is one effective way in reducing the risk of contracting HIV/Aids and sexually transmitted diseases, hence males are urged to visit their nearest clinics to be medically circumcised.
This was revealed during the recent launch of the Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Programme (VMMCP) at the Provincial Government Complex.
It was heard that the the South African National Strategic Plan is aimed at reducing the spread of HIV/Aids and other STIs by 50 per cent in 2016.
The provincial MEC for health, Mr Gillion Mashego said the department aimed to circumcise 150 000 males by the end of the 2015/16 financial year.
