Shongwe warns commuters

MEC Vusi Shongwe has sent a stern warning to public transport commuters to refrain from talking to drivers while they are driving.

MBOMBELA – MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Vusi Shongwe has sent a stern warning to public transport commuters to refrain from talking to drivers while they are driving.

Shongwe said that such behaviour was against traffic rules as it puts innocent lives at risk.

The MEC’s warning comes after a passenger who was travelling in a bus which crashed into a tree leaving seven passengers with serious injuries was arrested.

It is alleged that the crash happened when the driver lost control of the bus and smashed into a tree after he had an argument with the arrested passenger who was demanding him to stop after the passenger missed the station he was supposed to disembark at.
