Tonga Hospital road finally under construction
Residents in and around the area are relieved to know that the road they have been complaining about for almost six years, is now under construction.

TONGA – The infamous road serving as a port of entry to Tonga Hospital has been the center of attention since 2009, for being in shambles.
“We are excited to announce to the public that their cries have been heeded to, and the roadworks have commenced.
The contractor has been given six months to finish the job, which means he should be finished by May, should the weather not get on the way,” said Nkomazi Local Municipality Spokesperson, Mr Cyril Repinga.
The community has also reacted to the news on the municipality’s Facebook page with mixed emotions, with some showing appreciation while others regard it as a campaign ahead of the local government elections.
“This road construction is part of the campaign, they won’t continue after the elections. My biggest question is; where does the budget come from since is January?” wrote Moffat Sibiya. Mac-gregar Skhu Mkhatshwa also echoed on Moffat’s sentiments and questioned the timing of the construction.
“Kudzala lomgwaco umoshakele, ngoba sekufike malanga ekuvota seniyawulungisa,” he also wrote.
Some residents however praised the municipality for a job well-done.
”As long as quality is not compromised on the construction of the road. Just out of curiosity who’s the contractor and the consultant? Siyabonga Maspala,” wrote KnowLedge E. Nkuna.
