TEKATAKHO – A house was burnt to ashes after one of the occupants allegedly set it alight in the middle of the night on Saturday.
According to one of the relatives, Mr Hezekiah Nkosi, a 34-year-old woman who is a family member who lives in the house who is also alleged to be mentally disturbed, went outside and started singing about burning the house, then set it alight.
“All the family members were sleeping. She went outside and started to sing and making noise. One of the children woke up and went to investigate. She discovered that the house was on fire and then she shouted for help, but it was too late to save their personal belongings,” said Nkosi.
He continued and alluded that the family and neighbours were forced to watch the house burn to ashes since water supply is a huge problem in this area.
“The family lost everything since they did not get a chance to save some of their valued items such as their IDs, clothes and cellphones. People were willing to assist only to find out that there was no water. Locals are only relying on wells to get water and others buy it from the water trucks,” he explained.
